Twilight - DVD

The directorial debut of Hungarian director László Nemes, the evocative war drama Son of Saul, won the Grand Prix at Cannes and an Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film.
Following this triumph, the former assistant to the living legend Béla Tarr returns with a new film set in his native Budapest at the beginning of the 20th century.

This visually impressive historical drama follows twenty-year-old Írisz Leiter, who arrives in the Hungarian capital after spending her adolescence in an orphanage, and is suddenly confronted with her own past and the dark secret surrounding her family. Írisz is desperate to get a job at the luxury hat-making business that once belonged to her family, but the new owners are unnerved by her sudden return, as if the Leiter name carries some mysterious threat.
The ghostly, suffocatingly dreamlike atmosphere of pre-war Budapest resonates with the heroine's anxiety and the decline of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
