Various: Forbidden Singers of the Second Culture - CD

Forbidden Singers of the Second Culture has the label of an album that wasn't known much about for a long time. Thanks to Jiří Pallas, it brought together performers from three musical spheres, who otherwise mostly passed each other by in life. Until 1970, the Golden Nightingale Marta Kubišová was a famous personality of the finest domestic pop music, Charlie Soukup and Svatopluk Karásek represented the pure and criminalized underground, folk singer Jaroslav Hutka, Vlastimil Třešňák and Vladimír Veit experienced their last public performances as members of the Šafrán songwriting association after the signing of Charter 77. In the spring of 1978, a fresh exile, Jiří Pallas, organized an expedition of two Swedish journalists to Hussák's Czechoslovakia, to record said musicians for an album, issued in Sweden on the tenth anniversary of the Soviet occupation. The name didn't lie: By the time the album was released, all the performers were effectively banned singers and the album became a legend.
