Various: I still play - CD

Nonesuch Records released the album “I Still Play“ in 2020 as a tribute to its longtime president Robert Hurwitz.

All eleven premiered songs were created on the occasion of his official resignation in 2017 as a thank you for everything he has done for the publishing house in his prolific 32 years.

The authors of the music are composers John Adams, Laurie Anderson, Timo Andres, Louis Andriessen, Donnacha Dennehy, Philip Glass, Nico Muhly, Brad Mehldau, Steve Reich, Pat Metheny and Randy Newman. Most of the songs were interpreted by Timo Andres, in one case we also hear pianist Jeremy Denek, who regularly records for Nonesuch. Composers Brad Mehldau and Randy Newman recorded their compositions in person. Robert Hurwitz (more often familiar as Bob) is still actively following the events of the publishing house from his position as head of emeritus, and he could hardly have wished for a nicer gift from his (former) colleagues.
