The siblings Magda and Petr, their mother Barbora and people from the village and the nearby town meet again in one house. Hidden wounds come to the surface - the loss of a child, domestic violence, guilt and the desire for redemption. The author takes us retrospectively through the fates of individual characters, piecing together the fragments of love and family relationships up to the tragic event that stood at the beginning of the story and permanently affected the lives of the book's heroes, and shows how difficult it is to break free from family and social pressure.
