Vepřek Karel: Box2 (4x CD) - CD

A retrospective of songwriter Karel Vepřek's work on 8 CDs. The collection is divided into two separate four-disc box sets, containing archive recordings from 1986 to 2010. They present Karel Vepřek as a solo singer-songwriter with a guitar or diatonic accordion, in various ad-hoc ensembles, and with the bands Chudák paní Popelková and Lyrika Putyka. For the most part, this is material previously unavailable on official releases. You will find live concert recordings, home demos, and later recordings made at Czech Radio. All of this is compiled into a logical, coherent dramaturgy for each album. The sound has been carefully mastered, but the quality of the recordings reflects the circumstances of their creation. The primary intention was to capture the authentic atmosphere of Vepřek's songs and also make accessible those tracks that have remained hidden even from the songwriter's most loyal fans. 4CD BOX 2 contains the albums:

CD5 Podzimní motýli (Lyrika Putyka concert at Balbínka from 2010)

CD6 Plátna plná ran (various Lyrika Putyka concerts from 2003–2010)

CD7 Jsi moře (various concerts and home recordings of songs, all lyrics by Pavel Kolmačka from 1997–2010)

CD8 Nostalgie (various concerts, various line-ups, rarities from 1983–2002)

Karel Vepřek became a prominent figure on the folk scene in the second half of the 1980s. In his own distinctive lyrics and musical poetry, he touches upon the most intimate themes of life and faith, yet he is no stranger to irony or the boisterous revelry of a “poetic pub”. The Indies Scope label thus continues a format that has already proven successful in charting the work of Oldřich Janota and later Jakub Noha.
