Viaduct
The thoughtfully constructed story of this new prose work by scriptwriter and author Anna Vovsová begins with the narration of Hana, a photographer who has decided she no longer wants to live. After her husband's humiliating affairs and departures, life has lost its meaning for her. She has no children, her relationship with her sister is strained, everything has already happened, everything has been photographed, captured, and saved—it's over. She wants to disappear, but her attempt fails; she is prevented by a tragedy resulting from a chance encounter.
Written in refined language, the prose intertwines memories of the recent past with the present, and the personal histories of several characters unfold against a backdrop of global events. Alongside the intimate theme of the relationship between daughters and mothers, the author also describes the burden of the exile experience, which she herself has gone through, and confronts it with the hostile view of refugees held by a large part of society.
