The first of a total of five detective novels from Austrian crime history
The first of five detective novels by the Austrian writer and journalist who, together with Inspector Bronstein, takes us through the important years of Austrian history.
The case of a strange suicide takes place in 1913, in a still old-world but already pre-war Vienna. The seemingly banal suicide of an insignificant soldier, apparently due to unrequited love, is handled by young detective David Bronstein. This special patron, failed seducer of women and bon vivant begins to unravel a crime that reaches to the highest political levels. On his way to solve the offence, he meets Stalin, Colonel Redl and the famous Egon E. Kische.
