Viktorin Ivo: Wave after wave - CD

Ivo Viktorin, best known for his work with the band AG Flek, released his first solo album after 25 years of being an active part of our music scene. The wait, however, was worth it. The composer, singer, and multi-instrumentalist recorded most of the instruments himself, but he also invited his AG Flek colleague, singer Blanka Táborská, to the studio. The bass was recorded by Petr Vavřík, Josef Vojtášek, and Martin Gašpar; the drums were handled by Honza Machala, Marek Šlapanský, and Peter Solárik; the violin is played by Iva Bittová and Stano Palúch; Luboš Malina contributed with an Irish flute; Luboš Novotný recorded two songs on lap steel; and Petr Hoffmann took on the guitar parts.

From the very first notes, it's clear that the typically calm compositions of the good old AG Flek, the dreamy moods stemming from an exceptionally harmonious combination of acoustic guitars and keyboards, and Blanka Táborská's silky alto voice singing multi-layered original lyrics are among the strongest moments of this remarkable album. Closer to the genre-defying projects of Mark Knopfler or Norah Jones than to domestic folk, this album creates a pleasant mood with a touch of nostalgia. The CD was released in an original digipack with all the lyrics on 15 November 2005.
