Villaume Emmanuel, PKF Prague Philharmonia: Symphony No. 8, Toccatu e due canzon - CD

A testimony to the unique, deep relationship between the chief conductor and the orchestra. This is how the PKF - Prague Philharmonia's chief conductor, Emmanuel Villaume, describes the ensemble's profile CD.
This purely orchestral recording includes works by Antonín Dvořák and Bohuslav Martinů: two giants of Czech music who had and have a permanent, unwavering place in the repertoire of the PKF - Prague Philharmonia. For the profile CD the orchestra chose Dvořák's optimistic Symphony No. 8 in G major op. 88 full of Dvořák's unique melodicism. From the works of Bohuslav Martinů then Toccata e due canzoni H 311, a composition absolutely ideal for an orchestra like PKF - Prague Philharmonia. These energetic pieces are a prime opportunity for the orchestra to showcase its interpretive skills, its unique liveliness of performance, its enthusiasm, but also its precision and sense of style. Moreover, PKF - Prague Philharmonia is very close to these compositions. Dvořák's Symphony no. 8 was on the programme of the extremely successful American tour of PKF - Prague Philharmonia and Emmanuel Villaume in 2017. PKF returns to Toccata e due canzoni after a long time: In 2008, she recorded it with her then chief conductor Jiří Bělohlávek.
