Zdeněk Fibich : Piano compositions (Tomáš Víšek)
Piano compositions by Zdeněk Fibich (1850-1900) performed by Tomáš Víšek (* 1957). Recorded in the Czech Radio studio in September 2010 (1-8), in March 2001 (9-15) and in June 2005 (16-20).

The artist wrote about his relationship with Fibich on the occasion of the release of this CD:

The first time I got to Fibich was because I lied. More than thirty years ago, a famous Fibich expert called me, “you know, we are preparing an evening from Moods at the Music Theater, impressions and reminders, Mr. and I will play Mrs. Ta and Ta, and you can do Fibich, too. “I just swallowed: “Yes, sure“. Fortunately, it was time to practice, I surrounded myself with several selections from the cycle - and very soon I found out that Fibichne was only an author of sweets, on the contrary, his technical-expressive spectrum is much wider and more varied, and as such I have been trying to present it everywhere. His artistic remake of Schumann, but also Liszt (especially in the mature cycles presented here, which I was also “guided“ by the above-mentioned person) clearly attracted me and I only blessed my big hands, because both picking and joining chords and occasional jumps Fibich often did not spare the pianist at all. Perhaps that is why his songs may discourage many performers (try to play “mere“ Poem absolutely faithfully according to the prescription! ), but whoever has the appropriate hands and hearts should play Fibich and bring awareness of him - we have only a few such beautifully poetic cycles in our literature. I' m very happy that I can have Fibich on the CD for my jubilee, as a Czech I am proud, that thanks to Fibich we have (in terms of the number of numbers) the largest piano cycle in the world - and I' m just thinking, if we were american we would make the least feature film about his relationship with women, they released an impressive soundtrack to it, and it would have been known differently about Fibich.
