Vítězslav Nezval: Merry Play with a Double

Vítězslav Nezval wrote Merry Play with a Double for radio in 1938, loosely based on Calderon's theatrical comedy Poor Man, Let Him Be Behind His Ears. It was first staged by director Bezdíček in 1939. We bring you the radio production directed by Jiří Rollo. He made this gallant comedy based mainly on the sing-songy charm of Nezval's light verse in 1962. In addition to Václav Vosky, who plays the philandering nobleman Don Diego, aka Don Dionysus, you will also hear Eduard Kohout in a play with vocals, Miroslav Dolezel, Jaromír Spal, Viola Zink, Irena Kačírková, Luba Skořepová and other actors.
