Water for elephants

When Jacob Jankowski, tested by fate, jumps onto a passing train, he has no idea, that he enters the world of weirdos, tramps and clowns – to a third-rate circus, who struggles to survive at all costs during the Great Depression, staggering from city to city night after night, to catch up on his next stint in a never-ending series of tedious performances.

Jacob, veterinary student, will be put in charge of looking after the circus menagerie, where he meets the equestrian Marlena, the wife of a charismatic, but the violent animal trainer Augustus. He also meets Rosie the elephant, who was supposed to be a firebrand for the declining circus, but she seems completely untrainable. The extraordinary bond that develops between Jacob, Marlena, and Rosie is ultimately the only hope for survival for all three.

Based on the film of the same name starring Reese Witherspoon, Robert Pattinson and Christoph Waltz.
