Weeping of Prague streets
The figure of the Weeper, which harks back to the traditions of Prague's pilgrims and walkers as established by Angelo Maria Ripellino in his monograph, Magic Prague, is presented as the embodiment of the lament, pain and fear of all the lonely, needy, oppressed and tortured people throughout the turbulent history of Central Europe.
In twelve apparitions, things take on the full meaning of their names and words are transformed into living substances. This unity becomes the starting point for a transcendent redemption from the ever-present sorrow and despair. Limping between our world and the infinite, the Weeper is a swaying space where unbearable human misfortune meets with boundless divine grace.
