Wheel of Fortune

A sprawling story set against the backdrop of 19th-century history and a colourful carousel of passion, hatred, intrigue and crime – A Dangerous Fortune is further proof of the mastery of worldwide bestselling author Ken Follett. In 1866, tragedy strikes Windfield School, an elite English establishment for promising young men: one of the students drowns under mysterious circumstances. Only a few pupils were present at the event, and only some know what really happened. However, no one suspects how fatefully this death will intertwine their lives over the next three decades – Edward and Hugh Pilaster of the influential London banking family, Micky Miranda and Tonio Silva from the wild South American country of Cordoba, their families, friends, loves… and how their relationships, affections and resentments will shape history.
