Who wants to kill the Emperor

Murders in the times of Emperor Rudolf II.

The scribe of the provincial court, Lukáš Trobl from Květnice, accidentally overhears a conversation between two unknown men in a remote tavern called the Crazy Mare, in which the words "the Emperor must be killed" are spoken. Lukáš is not sure whether he was drunk, but rather informs his uncle, the court councillor Maximilian Trobl. On his instructions, he begins to search for the pair of unknowns and to find out whether they are really planning to assassinate Rudolf II. He is helped in his search by the one-eyed war veteran Konrad, the Hungarian bride Adriana and the court astronomer Johannes Kepler. At first it seems that Lukáš has only overheard a drunken joke, but when he is almost killed himself and is saved only by Albrecht of Wallenstein, the captain of the imperial army, he realises that things are getting serious. Especially when he can't even trust the Emperor's butler Filip Lang or the Emperor's mistress Katerina Strad. Could it be that these two also had a stake in Rudolph's death?
