Why we shouldn't sweat or How to walk in the mountains
Why don't we have a laugh on a mountain hike
A humorous book by a popular writer about passing on the experience of how to walk in the mountains. The amazement at how beautiful mountain hiking can be is accompanied by witty lessons, glosses and observations. If you are the father of a teenage daughter, you want to give her the best in life. If you used to spend every summer in the High Tatras with friends in your youth, you want to show your daughter how beautiful hiking can be. The story of Zdeněk Šmíd's humorous novella from 1984 takes place in two time levels - in one, a dad recalls his young years with the gang, and in the other, he shows his daughter Magdalena the beauty of the Tatras. The story also includes "educational" chapters about mountain hikers, or mountain men, which will make you laugh even in the middle of a mountain hike: "Except in the so-called landmark sense, that you, who doesn't own it, they consider nonsense, there are several other means, by which wandering can be improved and extended for a virtually unlimited period of time. They are mainly: Map, compass, book guide." Pleasant, funny, a sobering tale from the era, when trains had smoking compartments, no one had a GPS or a smartphone and the only mountains, that the inhabitants of Czechoslovakia could visit, were the High Tatras.
