Wild Hunt
This dramatic narrative from the early 1950s opens up a part of the dark history of the Šumava Mountains. Beginning students of the Faculty of Education come to work directly at the state border, where they are to participate in the so-called. wagoning the borderlands.
What could be dismantled and reused from former German and Austrian villages after the expulsion of their original inhabitants was sent to the interior as building material. What could not be sent was blown up and disappeared. The confrontation of young people with the brutality of the new regime, but also with their own willingness to submit to the new order or their will to fight for their inner identity and dignity, tests many of the characters in this intense narrative to the point of catharsis.
The book Wild Hunt predates the events narrated in the novella Cesta jinam, which was published in 2021 and was also read in the author's interpretation for listeners of Czech Radio. This allows readers to return to the same places and follow the fate of one of the central characters that links the two stories.
