The world is in peril. The fragile balance between the magical factions has been shattered by a sect of traitors who will stop at nothing to destroy both the Order and the Conclave. The factions are forced to join forces. A military expedition to the demon-besieged city is led by the necromancer Nix and the knight Beilen. In addition to the dead, old affections are rekindled, and sparks fly between the commanders. But love between a sorceress and a knight is punishable by death. The decision whether to prioritise higher political interests or their own happiness will not be easy at all. Especially when faced with hordes of monsters in streets filled with blood.

Zuzana Hartmanová
Born under the sign of Taurus in 1990 in the famous Kolín plains, she has likely put down permanent roots there. From an early age, she knew that a book is a person's best friend, and she diligently strives to strengthen this relationship. She works as a librarian in the digitisation department of the Municipal Library in Prague and is currently on maternity leave. She primarily reads fantasy but does not look down on historical or detective novels. She debuted with the short story novel Noční labuť (Night Swan) (Gorgona, 2017), in which she first introduced the necromancer Nix. The sorceress's story continues in the follow-up novel Perutě noci (Wings of the Night) (Gorgona, 2019). You can also read her short story Kruhy na hladině (Circles on the Water) in the anthology Žena s labutí (Woman with a Swan) (Fortna, 2018).
