This film opens the door to the world of male strippers. It is inspired by Channing Tatum's own experiences from his time working as a stripper while dreaming of an acting career. However, Tatum doesn't play himself in the film, but his older mentor, Mike. This character is portrayed by Alex Pettyfer. Matthew McConaughey appears as Dallas, a retired stripper and the current owner of the club where Mike and his protégé perform.
