Nordic Crime Extravaganza, the fourth case for Inspector Van Veeterean in The Woman with the Birthmark
Two men are dead. They died in the same brutal way. Both were hit by four shots - two in the abdomen and two in the chest. There is no doubt that in both cases it is the same perpetrator, but Inspector Van Veeteren and his people are groping in the dark. Then it turns out that the two dead men passed their officer's tests together in the army thirty years ago. And also a beautiful young woman appears.
Gradually, Van Veeteren realises that the former friends of the murdered men are also in danger. But can he prevent more murders?
