Yarmin's syndrome

Police officer Brett Machovski goes about his daily life at Ground Zero - the underground city beneath modern, upscale Baltimore. Little does he know that an innocent encounter with an old high school crush will drag him into a whirlwind of events that neither he nor anyone else could have imagined. David Viktora lent his voice to the latest audiobook by Petr Heteša. Forty million people in Baltimore's over-technologized megalopolis are slowly losing touch with the natural world and its standard habitat, which is being replaced by technology. It was clear that such a rapid development could not last indefinitely and that one day a critical threshold would be reached that would change everything by leaps and bounds. The time estimates of this event, however, were usually somewhere between one and five hundred years ago, which gave some sort of guarantee that the present inhabitants would fortunately not live to see it. No one ever dreamed that everything could be radically accelerated by one of the many Earth space expeditions, in this case to the planet Rapponea, which returned to Earth some seventeen years ago. But she left something behind. And now it has unexpectedly returned.
