Years & Years: Palo Santo (2018) (2x LP) - LP

London band Years & On June 6, Years released his second album, Palo Santo, which was released on the single Sanctify, whose YouTube video exceeded 6 million views and became the trendiest clip at the time of release. The previous Communion album reached number one in Britain, sold 1.5 million copies, received 5 BRIT Awards nominations, four singles went platinum and the band sold out Wembley.

Years & The Years have always been considered a band of British pop classicism. Palo Santo, so far symbolized by the single Sanctify, however, changes the musical direction and the overall vision. Proof of this is the diverse range of stars that contributed to the formation of the plate. Let' s name Kid Harpoon, Greg Kurstin, Julia Michaels, Steve Mac or Sarah Hudson for all of them. Frontman Olly Alexander fully accepts the role of a pop star and opens his heart to the audience. Palo Santo is shrouded in a haze of the tribe, where the minority is the majority and everyone is always welcome.

Palo Santo is a city on a distant planet where human beings are a rarity and are therefore considered icons and worshiped by a robot society. The album is partly an escape fantasy, partly a social commentary. Pop is perceived on the album as something futuristic, which, like the world, is changing beyond recognition. The inspiration was a sci-fi or pop band Prince, David Bowie or Lady Gaga, who attacks more senses. Years & Years created a perfect place with a new record, through which the most intimate and personal stories can be told, which affect identity, sexuality, performance and, last but not least, what it means to be human.
