Yngwie Malmsteen: Odyssey (1996 Edition) - CD

Yngwie Malmsteen, real name Lars Johan Yngve Lannerbäck (* June 30, 1963, Stockholm) is a Swedish heavy metal guitarist, composer and songwriter.
He was born in Stockholm, as the youngest child in a musical family.

Little Yngwie' s obsession with guitar and interest in music began on September 18, 1970, when he saw a special documentary about the death of Jimi Hendrix as a seven-year-old on television. His official website quotes: “On the day Jimi Hendrix died, guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen was born.“
The encounter with the play of the 19th century violinist Niccollo Paganini impressed him so much that he presents him as his greatest musical role model. In addition to Paganini, Jimi Hendrix, Genesis, Brian May, Uli Jon Roth, and Ritchie Blackmore of Deep Purple also had a musical influence on Malmsteen.
In 1981, he moved to the United States, where he performed in the Steeler and Alcatrazz groups. From 1983, after leaving Alcatraz, he began performing solo. He influenced many guitarists and bands of the 80' s, playing not only neoclassical heavy metal.
