Frozen Souls

In powerful personal interviews, Renata Kalenská reveals the stories of both female and male victims of sexualised violence. The author was inspired to compile this book by Jasmína Houdek, a lecturer of self-defence courses for women. She shared her extraordinary story with the journalist, in which she managed to find the strength to help not only herself, but also to help others. One of the interviewees is Jasmine's husband Pavel Houdek, who will tell the reader what it is like to live with someone who has been through hell. Psychologist Yvonna Lucká also adds to the mosaic of very frank victim narratives. What does the daily journey to healing look like for each of them, how is society treating them, and what do trauma-tested "frozen souls" need most? Reading such stories is not easy. But it is absolutely essential to read them. They do not invite pity, but strength. To the power to speak and be heard. To the power of not turning a blind eye to any form of violence. To the power that can be that ray of sunshine for souls that have frozen. One moment changed their lives. And one reading of this book can change them too. - JANA PLODKOVÁ, herečka Má smysl ponořit se do příběhů plných bolesti, trápení a zklamání? Touching the wounds, asking about what we wanted to forget long ago? To wander through the world like a body without a soul, crying, silent, screaming, standing and falling? Yes. It is, after all, perhaps one of the most important steps on the road to recovery. This book shows that at the end of every painful journey we can stand proudly stronger, wiser, truer. I thank all those who heal the pain of many through the words of this book, and I think of those who need this medicine so much. - MARTINA VIKTORIE KOPECKÁ, farářka a terapeutka Renata Kalenská: Frozen Souls | Read by Renata Kalenská, Tereza Dockalova, Matej Hádek, Denisa Barešová, Diana Tonik, Jakub Burýšek, Vanda Hybner, Jiří Hána, Kateřina Holánová, Erika Stárková, Jiří Kniha, Tereza Richtrová, Milena Steinmasslová | Directed by Alexandra Bauerová | Sound, editing and mastering Karolína Škápíková | Music Jonáš Rosůlek | Filmed in S Pro Alfa CZ studio | Graphics adapted from the book cover by Jana Lhotáková | Production S Pro Alfa CZ | Supervision Alena Brožová | Published by Euromedia Group, a. does - Témbr in cooperation with N media, a. does, v červenci 2025.
