Želary, Jozova Hanule

It's a powerful human story, brilliantly written by an author who suddenly emerged and shone in the literary sky after 2000. Věra Hofmanová alias Květa Legátová was awarded the State Prize for Literature for her book Želary in 2002. The novel by Jozov Hanul can be seen as a continuation of the short story cycle Želary, but it does not complete it, rather it complements it. The book has been translated into many languages. Subsequently, a film script was written based on the literary novel and the film Želary (2003) was made. At the centre of the action of the novel by Jozov Hanule, set during the German occupation of our republic, is the doctor Eliška. Together with her friend Slávek and her married lover Richard, she joined the resistance. However, it is soon discovered and Richard emigrates. Slávek warns Eliška of the danger that now threatens her and convinces her to leave the city. Her future home is to be the village of Želary in the Moravian Slovácko region and her husband a simple, uneducated woodcutter, Joza, a patient whose life she saved by donating her blood in the hospital. Eliška is forced to change her identity and adopt a new name - Hana. The story touches on something, that's sort of familiar to most people, intimate, Understandable, because it's about each person's quest for wholeness, to become that, what he really is, that is, myself - to find my essential self. And the main character of this story finds herself and meets the love of her life. 1xaudio on cd - mp3.
