Zikmund Winter: trapped

Zikmund Winter (1846-1912) worked in the shadow of his more famous generational contemporary Alois Jirásek, from whom he differed by striving to be as faithful as possible to historical facts, which Jirásek, on the other hand, did not hesitate to modify as necessary. The radio dramatisation of the short story In the Trap purposefully preserves Winter's archaic language. The director Josef Červinka has chosen a cast of actors who master this language, whether it is the narrators Viktor Brabec and Miroslav Masopust or the actors e.g. Josef Somr, Marie Drahokoupilová, Jiří Hálek or Jiří Holý, who appear in a story about a simple-minded, clever widow and a tax collector, who was installed in his office, to get the drop on her.
