Animals in the era of humans

Amazing, touching and bizarre. About animals and people with scientists.

How do whales live? wolves, Penguins, pangolins, but perhaps also rats, ticks or mosquitoes in the world, which is increasingly affecting the animal species called humans? Deník N editor Lenka Vrtišková Nejezchlebová seeks answers in twenty interviews with scientists.

They wrote about the book:

If we want to learn something new, and not just reinforce our a priori ideas about how humans harm (or possibly do not harm) nature, it is perhaps best to ask people who are directly involved in nature and animals. That' s exactly what Lenka Vrtišková Nejezchlebová did in this book (or rather, first in a series of interviews for Deník N). The result is quite stunning. A vivid picture of the nature around us emerges before us, with all sorts of problems, intricacies, and oddities. A detailed look at animals and the phenomena associated with them often shows that everything is a little different than people commonly think. The interviews show a world more diverse than is typically portrayed in books and science documentaries.

She later worked in the iDNES newsroom, in the reporting department, in the MF DNES magazine, and in the Týden magazine. She won the Journalism Award for the best interview in the written journalism category. In the book Trojboj s draky (Three-Way Battle with Dragons), she elaborated on the life story of philanthropist Tomáš Slavata; her interviews were previously published in the book Živly české védy (Elements of Czech Science) in Edition N.
