The Nanlite Rapid 90 Parabolic Softbox is designed to direct and soften the light from studio LED lights. The design uses a Bowens mount to attach to compatible flash heads and continuous lights. The internal silver reflective layer reflects the light beam with low intensity loss and no colour shift. This softbox is intended for photo and video productions that require rapid scene changes. With a diameter of 80cm and a height of 65cm, the design provides a large enough surface to create smooth transitions between light and shadow for both portrait and product photography.

Quick-Release Mechanism
The quick-latch mechanism reduces scene setup time. It takes up to 5 seconds to set up and only 1 second to pack away. The spring-loaded rods lock with a single pull-and-push motion. Once the chuck is unlocked, the body folds flat for easy transport. The integrated rapid-latch system eliminates the need to assemble individual rods, speeding up work in the field and in the studio when using multiple light modifiers at once.
Deep Shape and Directionality
The deep body shape creates focused, directional lighting with significant fall-off at the edges. The light cone wraps around the subject, reducing unwanted spill into the surroundings. The sixteen-sided design creates circular catchlights in the eyes of portrait subjects. This shape contributes to a natural appearance of shadows. The 65cm depth helps to direct the light flow more precisely and limits the illumination of unwanted elements in the background of the scene.
Diffusion Options
The package includes a standard and a light diffuser for different degrees of light softening. The standard diffuser offers a 90° beam angle. The light diffuser narrows the beam angle to 60° and increases contrast. The high-density nylon diffusion fabrics are attached to the inner edge with hook-and-loop fasteners. When using an FC-500C light at a distance of 3m and a colour temperature of 5,600K, the light output with the light diffuser is 2,698 lux.
Durable Mechanical Construction
The structure consists of 16 high-carbon steel ribs that distribute pressure evenly. The metal struts increase wind resistance for outdoor use and reduce the risk of deformation. The outer shell made of strong Oxford fabric resists tearing and wear during heavy use. The materials used ensure the dimensional stability of the entire system.
Spill Control with a Honeycomb Grid
The fabric honeycomb grid included in the package limits lateral light spill. This element narrows the beam angle and directs the light flow forward onto the subject. The honeycomb prevents unwanted illumination of the background and surrounding areas. It attaches with a hook-and-loop fastener around the perimeter. When the standard diffuser is combined with the honeycomb, the beam angle is narrowed to 60°. With the light diffuser and honeycomb, the angle drops to 50°.
Compatibility with Bowens Mount
The Bowens S-type mounting ring is used to connect to a wide range of light sources. The softbox can be attached to Nanlite Forza, FC, FS LED lights and other compatible lamps. The bayonet system is used to rotate the dome and then fix it in the desired position. The metal adapter is resistant to high temperatures. This universal mounting type allows the modifier to be used with many types of studio flashes and continuous lights from different brands on the market.
