Children are much more susceptible to contracting the common cold because their anatomy is different and their immune system is not as developed as an adult's. The smaller ones also fail to clean their noses properly and some refuse medication. Eustachian tube, that connects the middle ear to the upper pharynx, is broader in children, open and in a horizontal position at all times, therefore, rhinitis can more often develop into otitis media (manifested by crying due to pain and a feeling of earache), fever and in some cases temporary hearing loss). Appropriate and timely treatment of rhinitis acts as a prevention of recurrent otitis media.
Using OLYNTH®
OLYNTH® 0.5 mg/ml is indicated for the treatment of rhinitis in children from 2 to 7 years of age. OLYNTH® 0.5 mg/ml is applied as needed, up to a maximum of 1 dose in each nostril 3 times a day. The duration of treatment should be consulted with a doctor.
Storage
Keep this product out of sight and reach of children. Store at temperatures up to 25 °C. Do not use this product after the expiry date stated on the box and bottle after EXP.
Notice
Over-the-counter medicine. Read the full package leaflet carefully before taking this medicine. Olynth 0.5 mg/ml should not be used for more than 5 days unless otherwise directed by a physician. The application of the drug can be repeated only after several days of interruption of treatment. In case of chronic rhinitis, Olynth should only be administered under medical supervision due to the risk of atrophy of the nasal mucosa. For hygiene reasons, the medicine should not be used for more than 4 weeks after opening.
Ingredients
The active substance is xylometazolini hydrochloridum (xylometazoline hydrochloride). One ml of the solution contains xylometazolini hydrochloridum 0.5 mg (0.05 %). Excipients are: benzalkonium chloride solution, disodium edetate dihydrate, sodium dihydrogen phosphate dihydrate, sodium hydrogen phosphate dihydrate, sodium chloride, liquid crystallising sorbitol 70% and purified water.
