Otrivin reduces excessive congestion of the nasal mucosa. Otrivin quickly relieves a stuffy nose and makes breathing easier. Otrivin contains the medicinal substance xylometazoline. It quickly reduces the mucous soaked through the lining of a blocked nose and helps to remove the accumulated mucus so you can breathe more freely through your nose. Otrivin is used to restore the patency of a blocked nose caused by acute rhinitis, hay fever or other allergic rhinitis or sinusitis. Otrivin can also be used on the advice of a doctor for otitis media, when it reduces the leakage of the nasopharyngeal mucosa in the area of the mouth of the Eustachian tube.
Your doctor may also prescribe it for use prior to a professional nasal examination. The effect of Otrivin sets in within 2 minutes and lasts for up to 12 hours. It is well tolerated, even by patients with sensitive nasal mucosa. Otrivin also contains moisturizing and soothing agents that help prevent dryness and irritation of the nasal mucosa. Otrivin 0.5 mg/ml is recommended for use in children aged 1 to 11 years. Package size is 10 ml.
Dosage and method of use
Always use this medicine exactly as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. If you are unsure, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
Children from 1 to 5 years:
Applied by an adult. 1 injection into each nostril once or twice a day (every 8 to 10 hours) is usually sufficient. Do not exceed a total of 3 applications per nostril per day. The last dose of the day can be given shortly before going to bed.
Children from 6 to 11 years:
Applied by an adult or applied under adult supervision. 1 to 2 injections into each nostril two or three times a day. Do not exceed a total of 3 applications per nostril per day. The last dose of the day can be given shortly before going to bed.
Contraindications
Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. Do not use if hypersensitive to any component of the product. Do not use Otrivin if you are pregnant. The product is not intended for children under 1 year of age.

Storage
Keep out of sight and reach of children. This product does not require any special storage conditions. Do not use this product after the expiry date stated on the packaging after "EXP". The expiry date shall be the last day of the month indicated.
