Panadol for Children 24 mg/ml and dosage
The single dose of the product is determined by the child's weight, or by age (10–15mg/kg). The product can be administered repeatedly as needed, with doses preferably spaced 6 hours apart. The minimum interval between two doses is 4 hours. Do not give more than 4 doses within 24 hours. The total daily dose must not exceed 60mg/kg of body weight. Do not give to children for more than 3 days without consulting a doctor.
For children aged 3 to 6 months weighing 5–6kg, give 3ml of suspension; for children weighing 7–8kg, give 4ml of suspension.For children aged 6–12 months (9–10kg), give 5ml of suspension.Children aged 1 to 2 years (11–13kg) take 6ml of suspension.Children aged 2 to 3 years (14–16kg) take 8ml.Children aged 3 to 6 years (17–20kg) take 10ml of suspension.Children aged 6 to 12 years (21–25kg) take 13ml, those weighing 26–33kg take 16ml, and those weighing 34–40kg take 20ml of suspension.
For children aged 2–3 months, Panadol for Children Strawberry is only given after vaccination for symptomatic relief of fever. The single dose is 2.5ml (120mg/5ml). The interval between doses is 6 hours. If the fever persists after the second dose, you must see a doctor.
Storage
Store in the original packaging. This medicinal product does not require any special storage conditions.After first opening, it can be used until the end of its shelf life.Do not use Panadol for Children after the expiry date which is stated on the packaging. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month. Keep out of the sight and reach of children.Do not throw away any medicines via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to throw away medicines you no longer use. These measures help protect the environment.
Contraindications
Read the package leaflet carefully. Do not give your child Panadol for Children: if your child is allergic to paracetamol or any of the other ingredients of this medicine; in cases of severe liver disease (including acute jaundice). Panadol for Children contains paracetamol and therefore must not be given at the same time as other medicines that contain paracetamol or that damage liver function.
Warning
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before giving your child Panadol for Children: if you are giving the product to a child with liver disease; if you are giving the product to a child with kidney disease; if the child is significantly underweight; in case of a glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase enzyme deficiency; if you are giving the product to a child with haemolytic anaemia (anaemia from the breakdown of red blood cells); if your child has had an allergic reaction in the past after taking medicines containing acetylsalicylic acid or other medicines for pain and fever from the group of so-called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), as a similar allergic reaction to paracetamol cannot be ruled out. If your child suffers from any of the above conditions, you must consult a doctor about the suitability of using the product beforehand.The product is not intended for children under 3 months of age, with the exception of reducing fever after vaccination, where it can be given to children from 2 months.If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
