Food serves as fuel for our body - it provides it with energy and all the important nutrients. And that's certainly not the only reason to eat it - we have to enjoy the food too! Spending time over a meal with family, friends or colleagues should be a pleasant experience to remember. However, for this to happen, our digestive system must be able to digest food in the right way, which requires sufficient digestive enzymes.
Why is the pancreas so important in digestion when it comes to food?
The pancreas produces the necessary digestive enzymes. Previously, people thought that the pancreas, due to its elastic consistency, only served as a "shock absorber" protecting the stomach. In reality, however, its functions are much more diverse. Thanks to pancreatic enzymes, our body can break down food into simpler substances, which can pass from the intestine into the bloodstream, from where they are further distributed to tissues and organs. If the pancreas is impaired, the body is unable to produce sufficient amounts of digestive enzymes. Food is not digested sufficiently and various digestive problems can occur.

What is Pangrol and what is it used for?
Pangrol is a medicine that contains digestion-promoting substances (enzymes) from the pancreas of pigs (pancreatin powder, also called pancreatin). Pangrol is designed to support digestion and absorption of food when there are problems with enzymes from your pancreas.
The registered medicinal product Pangrol 20 000 IU is intended to support:
- eating hard-to-digest vegetables, fatty or unusual foods, with consequent impaired nutrient absorption and indigestion associated with loss of appetite, belching, upset stomach and diarrhoea (dyspepsia)
- too fast passage of food through the intestine caused by e.g. nervousness or intestinal infection
Dosage and method of use
The recommended dosage of the product is: 1 - 2 Pangrol tablets per meal (equivalent to 20,000 - 40,000 IU of lipase per meal).
Contraindications
This medicine is intended for adults. A doctor should decide on the use of the product in children over 3 years of age. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you should not take Pangrol 20000 unless your doctor considers it absolutely necessary. If you do not feel better within 7-14 days or if you get worse, you must consult a doctor. The over-the-counter medicine Pangrol® contains pancreatin powder. Read the package insert carefully.
Storage
Always keep the product out of sight and reach of children. Do not use this product after the expiry date stated on the box and on the blister after "EXP". The expiry date shall be the last day of the month indicated. Store at temperatures up to 30 °C. Do not dispose of any medicines in wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of products you no longer use. These measures help protect the environment.
