PSH - CARE PAW - Paw Balm 50ml

PSH - CARE PAW - Paw Balm 50ml
Paw Protector is a balm for the regular care of paw pads on dogs and cats. It helps maintain their hydration, elasticity and good condition during normal wear and tear, friction and when exposed to high or low outdoor temperatures. It contains aloe vera, avocado oil, glycerin and vitamin E. These ingredients are part of hydrating, softening and conditioning care for the skin of the paw pads and help to reduce excessive drying during everyday activities. The balm can be used before and after a walk or increased physical activity. It is suitable, for example, for city dogs that walk on hard surfaces, active dogs, and as part of regular paw care in summer and winter.
Key features of the PSH - CARE PAW 50ml paw balm
- Helps keep the skin on the paw pads hydrated and supple
- Designed for regular care of paws exposed to friction and increased strain
- Can be used before and after outdoor activities
- Suitable for year-round care in both low and high outdoor temperatures
- Contains a combination of aloe vera, avocado oil, glycerin and vitamin E
- Currently approved as a veterinary preparation for dogs and cats
- ÚSKVBL approval 036-26/C
How to use PSH CARE PAW correctly
- Before application, check the paw pads and remove any normal dirt
- Apply a small amount of balm to all the paw pads
- Spread the product evenly with a gentle massage
- Use as needed before and after increased strain, a long walk or in more demanding outdoor conditions
- In winter: after returning from areas treated with road salt, first rinse the paws with lukewarm water, dry them and then continue with normal pad care
- In summer: the balm is not protective footwear nor a product that would make hot asphalt safe; if a surface is too hot, it must be avoided regardless of whether the balm is used
Composition and role of the main ingredients
The current PSH lists vitamin E, aloe vera, glycerin and avocado oil as the main ingredients. For the approved PSH Paw Protector, the ÚSKVBL also lists citric acid and sunflower seed extract among the active ingredients.
- Glycerin - a humectant used to support the hydration of the top layer of skin
- Avocado oil - a lipid and emollient component in cosmetic care
- Aloe vera - a plant-based ingredient used in hydrating and softening cosmetic care
- Vitamin E - an antioxidant ingredient used in cosmetic formulas
Testing in the Veterinary Dermatology journal
A highly relevant veterinary study published in the journal Veterinary Dermatology investigated a moisturising preparation with glycerol and propylene glycol on the experimentally disrupted skin of six healthy beagles. When applied twice daily for one week, lower transepidermal water loss and other signs of faster skin barrier recovery were measured at the treated sites. Study details are available from the publisher, Wiley.
When cosmetic care is not enough
The balm is suitable for regular care of the paw pads and their protection during normal activity. However, if a pad is deeply cracked, bleeding, significantly swollen, weeping, or the paw is painful, it is not advisable to rely solely on home cosmetic care. Similarly, it is advisable to address the cause if a dog limps repeatedly, licks its paws intensively, or the condition of the pads worsens despite regular care.
Recommended further care
- General dog hygiene - eye, ear, tooth and paw care - a practical guide on how to check paws after a walk, when to rinse them and what signs indicate that regular home care is no longer sufficient
- ANIMAL PROFI self-adhesive bandage for dogs - a practical part of a home or travel first-aid kit for securing a suitable dressing; it is not applied directly to an open wound and does not replace veterinary treatment
- Balms, waxes and other paw care - choose other products based on whether you need regular hydrating care, stronger barrier protection or another type of treatment
