Octicide is an antiseptic solution (with disinfectant effects) intended for topical use. It is used for repeated short-term antiseptic treatment (to destroy bacteria and fungi) by application to mucous membranes and surrounding tissues before diagnostic procedures in the external genital and excretory organs, including the insertion of a urinary catheter. It is also used for repeated, short-term antiseptic treatment of small superficial wounds (such as. abrasions, scratches, minor cuts, burns and insect bites). Use Octicide for a maximum of 14 days.

Dosage and method of use

Use without a doctor's recommendation: Without consulting a physician, the product is used for the antiseptic treatment of small superficial wounds in adults, adolescents and children (such as. abrasions, scratches, minor cuts, burns and insect bites). Package size is 250 ml.
Use on the recommendation of a physician: Repeated temporary antiseptic treatment of burns and larger wounds such as bedsores, leg ulcers and post-operative scars, antiseptic vaginal and cervical lavage, disinfection of the penis.
Use by a physician: Antiseptic treatment of mucous membranes and adjacent skin areas prior to diagnostic or surgical procedures around the external genital and excretory organs, including the vagina, vulva and glans penis, as well as prior to insertion of a urinary catheter, and for repeated short-term antiseptic wound care.
Dose and method of use:
Always use this medicine exactly as directed in the package insert or as directed by your doctor, pharmacist, or nurse. If you are unsure, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or nurse. Octicide is used undiluted. The best results are achieved by application immediately after the injury or after the first signs of inflammation. Unless otherwise directed by a physician, apply the product to the affected area once daily, but not for more than 14 days, to treat wounds and injuries. Using a mechanical sprayer, apply Octicide to the area to be treated to ensure complete moistening of the wound.
For superficial wounds, no covering with a bandage or plaster is usually necessary. However, it is recommended to cover the wound with a bandage to prevent possible later infection. Keep in mind that before any further steps such as. cover the wound, wait at least 1 to 2 minutes after application and allow the wound to dry. Follow the instructions carefully to achieve the desired effect. The maximum effect of Octicide is ensured within 2 hours of its use. If the wound does not heal properly or has signs of inflammation (redness, burning or swelling at the application site) or other complications in healing, consult a doctor.
Do not use this medicine for more than 14 days without consulting your doctor. There is limited experience to date with continuous use for a maximum of 14 days, therefore Octicide should not be used for longer than this period. Use in children and adolescents The use of the product in children and adolescents is the same as in adults.

Contraindications

Do not use this product if you are allergic to octenidine dihydrochloride, phenoxyethanol or any of the other ingredients in this product. Octicide must not be applied to the eye. If recommended by a physician, Octicide can be used during pregnancy from the completion of the first three months of pregnancy. Do not use Octicide in the breast area during breastfeeding. Do not use the product during breastfeeding without the express recommendation of a physician.

Storage

Keep this product out of sight and reach of children. Do not use this product after the expiry date stated on the packaging after the abbreviation EXP. Time expiry date refers to the last day of the month indicated. Store at temperatures up to 30 °C. After the first opening, use Octicide within 12 months, taking into account the expiry date indicated on the packaging.
Do not dispose of any medicines in wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist, how to dispose of products you no longer use. These measures help protect the environment.
