The need for vitamin D
Cholecalciferol, or vitamin D3, is produced in the body after exposure to sunlight. It is a substance that is further transformed in the body (hydroxylated) into the active forms 25-hydroxyvitamin and 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin, which are already used by the cells of the body. The need for vitamin D increases especially during the winter months when there is limited sunlight. The properties of this are far from being related only to the condition of the bones and teeth, but also to immunity and psychological condition. In addition to vitamin D3, cod liver oil also naturally contains vitamin A and EPA DHA, omega-3 fatty acids that are essential for the functioning of the body.
