A one-step cassette test to determine the presence of blood in the stool. The presence of occult blood in human faeces is often associated with gastrointestinal diseases such as intestinal polyps, colourectal cancer, ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease. Early detection by occult blood analysis and treatment of these diseases can significantly reduce colourectal cancer. The immunochromatographic test is more sensitive and specific than the traditional guaiac test. Unlike the guaiac test, the patient does not need a special diet. FOB is a simple one-step in-vitro immunochromatographic test for the rapid qualitative detection of human haemoglobin in faeces. The test device includes a pad where human hemoglobin at a concentration of 10 ng/ml and above is detected after the insertion of a suitable amount of liquid fecal sample.
Method of use
The stool sample is collected with the sampling device and properly mixed by shaking. The device is held with the tip pointing upwards, then the tip is broken off and 2 drops of the extracted sample are squeezed into the sample well of the cartridge.
