I bought this lock for an older type of petcock on my garage. I didn't expect much from it initially, but I was pleasantly surprised by its robustness. However, it has one design flaw - the caliper has a relatively large clearance in the direction of extension. This is due to the fact that the hole for the caliper is bottomed out on the pull-out side right at the edge of the lock body, so there is nothing underneath to support the caliper or provide clearance. Fortunately, this problem is relatively easy to solve - just use a strip of rubber, for example from a piece of garden hose. The strip should be exactly 19 mm high, otherwise the caliper cannot be inserted. If it is lower, the clearance will remain. Unfortunately, I don't remember the exact width, but I estimate it covered about three-quarters of the circumference of the hole. Because the hose is only around the perimeter, the bottom drain hole remains free so that water can still flow out of the lock and will not be trapped. The key insert has a slight disadvantage - the key can be turned even when it is not inserted correctly. In order to insert the key all the way in, it is sometimes necessary to turn it slightly back and forth to flatten the mechanism. However, this feature is typical of this type of insert and is a tax on its higher resistance to certain methods of unauthorized opening. But what bothers me the most is that the key cannot be removed when the lock is open, so if I don't want to lock it again and put it in my pocket, the lock hangs on the key bundle even when opening the door lock, which the petticoat covers with this lock.
