I bought the Ryzen 5 4500 as a replacement for the Ryzen 7 1700X because of Win11 support. I didn't want anything expensive. I was debating between the Ryzen 5 3600 and this one. In the end I decided on this one because of the lower power consumption, but I also wanted to try out the monolithic architecture, since with chiplets like the Ryzen 5 3600 some games tear. Although this has recently been improved with new BIOSes and drivers for B450 chipsets. The single-threaded performance of the Ryzen 4500 is greater than the older first and second generation Ryzens, so it's OK for gaming. I installed it in an MSI B450 Gaming Plus Max board, but first I upgraded the BIOS to the latest version. I have DDR4 2666 memory and GTX 1660Super graphics. The screen was black for several minutes and the computer restarted over and over again. Finally, the BIOS splash screen appeared with the Ryzen 4500 recognized. But the BIOS automatically set it to 4.4GHz at 1.4V. Which is pretty much on the edge. The cooler I have is a powerful Noctua NH-D15, left over from an older Ryzen. I tried a few tests and everything was OK, temperatures maxed at 65 degrees, but then I lowered the clock to the paper 4.1 GHz at 1.25V with +-0.05V offset. At this setting, temperatures don't get above 50C and CPU consumption when playing Kingdom Come 2 and Red Dead Redemption 2 is around 35W. Both games run great on FullHD. As far as I have seen in the videos, in Battlefield 5 this processor has strong FPS drops, but in other games everything is OK.
