After Sony's total screw-up with the Linkbuds S (and other models), I vowed never to use Sony again. Audio-Technica is a pretty good replacement. They're a bit bigger (compared to the Linkbuds S), so I'm still not quite used to them. It's missing a proximity sensor, which I didn't realize what a cool gadget it is, but at this price range it's understandable. The ANC is slightly weaker, but it's no big deal - it's perfectly fine on the train and public transport, and once you play music over it, even a little, you don't know about the surroundings. In pass-through mode you can adjust the strength, but I would still welcome artificial amplification of the surroundings (e.g. when I have music playing and switch to pass-through, I often have to pause the music anyway). The sound quality is unnecessarily overbassed in the default settings and the highs and mids suffer for it, but after setting up the Equalizer in Spotify (the A-T Connect app only offers presets) I can't get enough of them. The microphone is a bit weaker for me and I feel that by default it isolates ambient noise (wind) rather than voice when I tested it on the recorder. On the other hand, if you switch to Voice Isolation mode during a call (iPhone) I had no problem talking to anyone in the subway or in the store.
Quality of the sound is acceptable for the price. The microphone is not suitable for noisy places. Always that I am in the public transport, the person on the other side complain about they hear more the noice than my voice.
