I have a connection to the TV via HDMI (the TV needs to be able to HDMI ARC on the HDMI port where it's connected, so that it turns itself on and off with the TV, and so that the volume control from the TV works and I don't have to use the Bose control). Otherwise, it works exactly as I wanted, the sound is great (the living room is about 4x5m and the bass is adequate, for a giant room it would probably need a larger model).
