Apparently I had bad luck with a defective piece. The lid was screwed over the thread so that there was a difference of maybe half a centimeter so there could not be any tightness against spilling
...was out of the question. After settling the complaint ( Alza scored and refunded the money right away ) - to dispose of it in an environmentally friendly way - I tried to twist the lid off.
The thread was so bent that the lid did not hold in it at all.

Cannot wash the cap well due to the bamboo cap.
The bamboo on the cap is only for the looks, the actual cap is metal. It soaks up a lot of water if it gets wet (from rain/ washing) and takes long to dry.
