New method: I'm taking out a stored vacuum cleaner
I take out the extension cord (the cord is barely a meter long and there is no socket by the fireplace)
I'll hook up the hose, look at the ash on the ground that's fallen out of the fold since last time.
I start vacuuming the super, the ashes disappear
I'm listening to the increasing noise as the filter clogs
I get dressed and go to dump about a gallon of ashes behind the house. The liter is between the guard and the filter, the huge container is almost empty. There's still some ash in the hose so it needs to be emptied.
I remove the protective metal basket, sweep the ash from the filter with a broom
I don't give a shit
I'll put the vacuum cleaner together
I'm going home
I'm vacuuming up another litre of ash before the filter gets clogged.
I'm going out. after 20 minutes, I'm done.
The old non-progressive method: I'm gonna get a bucket, a dustpan and a broom and clean the fireplace
I'm gonna get dressed and I'm gonna go spill it out
I'm enjoying the evening

If you think that the short el. a cable and a short suction hose is enough, so it is not enough. I have a small fireplace and I have to keep the vacuum cleaner inside! to suck it all out. The socket is 2m away and I had to connect an extension cable: (
