Escape
How will the second London stop end for the rockers?
It's 1965, the UK is in the throes of beat fever and The Shuffle, a band of ordinary Glasgow lads, dream of stardom. In an attempt to make a dent in the world, the musicians leave the city and head to London to meet fame and fortune. But there is no revolutionary entrée. Just a few weeks are enough for three of them to return home with their lives irrevocably damaged...
Fifty years later, the brutal murder of actor Simon Flet, who belongs to their shared past, brings some of the group together. Gentlemen who are already in their seventies will once again go to the places where it all began. Will today's dark corners of the British capital really confirm what their seriously ill teammate Maurie has revealed to them?

They wrote about the book:
The book is beautifully written - witty and sharp - and completely different from anything I've read by the versatile Peter May.
- Literary Review

An amazing story filled with nostalgia and burdened with long suppressed guilt.
- The Sunday Times

Escape eclipses all of Peter May's books to date.
- Markéta Pilátová, iHned.cz

The Escape is a social novel with a detective plot, but it will resonate with you longer than Jonasson's cartoonish one-liners because it is deeper and more serious, even if there is a sharper joke here and there.
- Jindřich Göth, Instinct

For me, the detective plot was completely overwhelmed by the strong image of the recklessness of youth and the serenity of old age. It was a different reading experience, but I really enjoyed it. The author skillfully works with the whole range of the reader's emotions - from laughter to sadness. I really recommend it!
