The HDD makes a noticeable rumbling sound at startup and then every few seconds even when idle, which scared me because previous HDDs of the same brand did not have this phenomenon. Then I found out that it's okay, it's a manufacturer's technology that is supposed to extend the life of the device. Either they added it later or it's only on larger HDD sizes (I haven't seen it on 8TB or 12TB, supposedly it's only 14TB+).
I use the HDD for backup, it's not permanently running, so I don't care. But if someone wants to use it on a daily basis, I would rather not recommend it, I find the sound annoying.
