UC-II® Undenatured Collagen Type II is a patented form of collagen with undenatured (native) collagen type II acting as a signaling molecule. It is believed that a small amount (40 mg/day) works by inducing a process known as oral tolerance, which eventually engages the body's cells in a self-repair (regenerative process). Oral tolerance is the process that allows the body to discriminate between bioactive and useful substances (signal molecules), such as. bioactive peptides, or phytonutrients, and essential nutrients that are poisoned and grafted, or potentially harmful foreign invaders. Copper and vitamin C - copper is a mineral essential for the formation of new joint cartilage, as is vitamin C, which also promotes better absorption of the other substances contained.
