Septofort 2 mg 24 lozenges
Septofort 2 mg 24 lozenges
Septofort 2 mg are lozenges with the antiseptic agent chlorhexidine digluconate, which are used as supportive therapy for throat and oral infections, including infections caused by yeast (e.g. Candida albicans). They also help with gingivitis and maintaining oral hygiene after tooth extraction or removal of tonsils. The lozenges are intended for adults, adolescents and children from 5 years of age. They act locally in the oral cavity, reducing the amount of germs and contributing to symptom relief. The product is not intended for long-term use without consulting a physician and may cause temporary discolouration of the teeth or taste disturbances.
Dosage
Septofort is designed for adults, adolescents and children aged 5 years and older. In the supportive treatment of throat infections, 1 lozenge 4-5 times a day is used for adults and adolescents from 12 years of age, 1 lozenge 2-3 times a day for children from 5 to 12 years of age. In the treatment of oral infections, including powdery mildew, 2 lozenges 5-6 times a day for adults, 4-6 times a day for adolescents and 3 times a day for children are recommended. For the prevention and treatment of gingivitis and after dental procedures, the dosage is the same as for the treatment of the throat. There must be at least a 2-hour interval between doses for adults and a 4-hour interval for children. The duration of treatment depends on the type of problem, but should not exceed 4 days for throat infections (3 days for children) and approximately 14 to 30 days for other indications without consulting a physician.
Contraindications
Septofort must not be used if you are allergic to chlorhexidine digluconate or any other ingredient in this medicine. It is not intended for use in children under 5 years of age, as safety and efficacy have not been sufficiently established for this age group. Do not use the product at the same time as other antiseptic medicines or substances that may affect its effect, such as some components of toothpastes (e.g. sodium lauryl sulfate) or the antifungal nystatin. If you have a genetic disorder such as phenylketonuria or congenital fructose intolerance, you must consult your physician before use, as the product contains aspartame (a source of phenylalanine) and sorbitol (a source of fructose).
Notice
Septofort is not suitable for children under 5 years of age or for people allergic to chlorhexidine or other ingredients of the pastilles. Temporary tingling, burning or taste disturbance may occur at the beginning of treatment, which usually resolves spontaneously. Tongue, teeth or fillings may become discoloured during use - this effect can be prevented by regular brushing and avoiding tea, coffee or red wine. Lozenges should not be used with other antiseptics or surfactants, such as some toothpastes - a minimum of 30 minutes should be maintained. In pregnant women, the preparation is not recommended for preventive reasons, and in the period of breastfeeding, its short-term use is possible after consultation with a doctor.
Storage
Keep Septofort out of the sight and reach of children. Store at temperatures up to 25 °C, in the original packaging to protect it from light and moisture. Do not use after the expiry date stated on the packaging after "Best before:" and on the blister after "EXP", the date refers to the last day of the month stated. Don't throw unused or expired lozenges down the drain or in the general waste - ask your pharmacist how to dispose of them safely. In this way, you will contribute to the protection of the environment.
