The 3D angle is a measuring and marking tool whose main advantage is the ability to work in three-dimensional space, especially on materials such as beams, prisms or pipes. Unlike a conventional flat angle, its design is adapted to fit over the edge of the material. This is made possible by its integrated stop, which ensures a precise seating on the workpiece. This makes it easy and accurate to transfer lines, angles and measurements from one surface to another, even on adjacent or opposite sides, without having to reposition and reseat the angle. The protractor is equipped with length scales and preset angles, typically 45 and 90 degrees, for quick drawing of perpendiculars and mitres. Its shape is designed not only for working with square material, but often includes markings or holes for determining the centre of circular cross-sections, such as pipes. Essentially, it acts as a "ring" template, simplifying tasks that would require multiple measurements and a more complicated procedure with a conventional miter gauge.
