AAC (Advanced Audio Coding)

AAC (Advanced Audio Coding) is a standard for lossy digital audio compression. Developed by Fraunhofer IIS, it was designed as a successor to the MP3 format with better sound quality at the same bit rate. It is the format that Apple uses for music sold in the iTunes Store.
