Obstacle Detection

Obstacle detection is the drone's ability to recognize objects in its surroundings to avoid colliding with them. For this purpose, it uses a system of various sensors that can be placed on the front, rear, bottom, top, and side of the drone. Among the most common types are visual sensors, which are cameras that analyze images and create a three-dimensional map of the surroundings. Furthermore, infrared sensors are used, which measure distance using infrared light, or ultrasonic sensors, which operate on the principle of sound wave reflection. Based on data from these sensors, the drone's control system can evaluate an impending collision and automatically perform an evasive maneuver, such as stopping or flying around the obstacle. The number and placement of sensors determine from which directions the drone is protected.
