Tempered glass

Tempered glass is a protective material for action cameras that is produced by heat-treating a sheet of glass. It is applied to the camera lens or display to protect them from scratches, abrasions, and minor impacts. Compared to plastic films, it is harder and better resists sharp objects, such as sand or small stones. In the event of a stronger impact, it may crack, thereby absorbing some of the energy and protecting the surface beneath it. High-quality glass has high light transmittance and therefore does not affect the sharpness or colors of the image. It is attached with an adhesive layer and requires precise centering. It is particularly suitable for sports use in rugged terrain.
